Future leaders, today’s focus!
Our commitment to developing today’s children and youth into tomorrow’s leaders is evident through our camping programs. Although they are different, they are all directed towards the same goals. In the coming years we are looking to bring synergy between our two camp programs and offer cross-cultural learning experiences for our young leaders. This will be a great expansion for us and we believe will offer the next step in building the capacity of our youth.
Mish Adventures is a camping program each summer for the children and youth of the Mishkeegogamang First Nations in northern Ontario that runs for several weeks. During the camp, the young leaders of the community are gathered in Muskoka Woods for a week of leadership training. These junior leaders are then encouraged to serve as staff during the two weeks of day camps. The day camps bring together First Nations kids into contact with biblical teaching, cultural affirmation and fun activities.
The Kids Culture Camp is a 5-day camping experience designed for First Nations kids from different communities. In the beautiful Rocky Mountain setting of Alberta Pioneer Camp, iEmergence provides a unique cultural context while Intervarsity and the Edmonton Native Healing Centre provides the infrastructure support and incredible facilities. Affirmed in their identity as Native children, young Native men and women learn how the Creator wants to engage in their lives in life-transforming ways.
